Lydia Sue Stark, 73, resident of Raleigh went home to heaven Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at her residence. Lydia was born in Kankakee, Illinois on February 7, 1953 to the late William and Mary (Reese) Stark. Lydia’s family shares: “It is never easy to capture a life as vibrant as Lydia’s in words. She was the kind of person who didn't just enter a room. She commanded it with a mix of grace, grit, and a perfectly timed bit of wit. She was such a determined woman who did anything she put her mind to. Lydia was a woman of unwavering faith, fierce determination, and a legendary spark of sass. Lydia’s life was anchored by her deep devotion to God. Her faith wasn't just a Sunday routine, it was the steady hand that guided her through life’s storms and the light she shared with everyone she met. She lived by the word, prayed with conviction, and walked through the world knowing she was never alone. Lydia also dedicated part of her life to caring for individuals with mental disabilities. She approached her work with compassion, patience, and dignity, offering not only support but genuine kindness to those she served. Her servant’s heart was evident not only in her faith and family life but also in the way she cared for others in need. To her family, Lydia was a loving mother who provided a foundation of strength, a devoted grandmother who mastered the art of spoiling with love, a sister who showed her siblings so much support and care, a cherished aunt who always had the best advice and a friend you could always count on and turn to. She is now up in the glory land surrounded by her loved ones that have went before her. We will miss her so much. She was a devoted woman of Christ, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend.” She is survived by her daughter, Amy (Harold) Meents of Eldorado, brother, Billy D. (Renee) Stark of Eldorado, sister, Laura Ann Schoon of Eldorado, grandsons; Dakota (Ashlee) Meents, Grayson Meents of Eldorado, as well as several nieces and nephews. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services for Lydia will be held Monday, March 2, at 11:00 am at the Wasson Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Angelly officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 am until service time on Monday. Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.colonialterracefuneralhome.com
