Sarah J. Brown

Sarah J. Brown, 82, resident of Metropolis, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026 surrounded by her friends and family. She was born February 25, 1943 to the late Kenneth and Judith Spirling. Sarah is survived by her son; James D. Murphy of Bowling green, KY, daughters; Cyndi (Duane) Johnson of Metropolis, Misti Labs of Gary, IN, brother; Charles Scott of Tennessee, grandchildren; Jessica Burnham, Richard (Elizabeth) Johnson, David (Carolyn) Miller of Laurel, IN, Brandon Miller of Gary, IN, great grandchildren; Nevaeh Burnham, Brenliegh Johnson, Bristol Johnson, Bobby Burnham, JT Burnham, Logan Miller and Allison Miller. In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband; Frank Brown, brothers; Kennith Spirling, George Spirling, Richard Spirling, sisters; Winnie D’Amico, Phyllis Camp, and Vina Carnett. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the 1st baptist church in Metropolis, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing at service time.
